If procrastination were a paid profession I’d be a millionaire. My parents, family and friends would probably agree too! My house is pretty messy. I’ll do it tomorrow or later has become my mantra because between school and two jobs I was rarely home anyway. If I was home I was sleeping, cooking, or doing homework.
Now that school is done and I want to clean but don’t. I go back in September so that leaves me 4 months to clean and purge. However, at the end of the day my bum finds the couch and the remote jumps into my hand. I am addicted to HGTV, DIY network and Food Network.
I’ve made little strides here and there but I just haven’t been motivated unless something gets too smelly or I run out of clean clothes. My goal for May is to get my living room cleaned. I am rearranging it as well as creating a space for a home office kind of area. I’ve chosen my paint color, a print for the wall, an area rug and the corner computer desk. I’m also going to spray paint my floor lamp that is a 1990’s mauve to a rich espresso color. BUT before I do any of that I have to clean up the area; which also means I have to tackle the dining room that has become my clutter corner. Currently my computer sits on a dining table in a corner of the living room but since I’ll be getting a computer desk that means the dining table can go in the dining room. (What a concept!) I’m hoping I’ll be with it enough to post before and after pictures. I hope it turns out to look like the image in my head.
On a brighter note I did my first 5K. My goals were to not finish last and to do it in under 90 minutes. Both seemed attainable goals and they were achieved. My time was 65 minutes and I was far from the last person across the finish line. Yeah for me! As I was walking I was wondering what the motivation was for the other 10999 runners & walkers I was with. What was my motivation? I’m still clueless on that but I’m glad I did and might do it again someday. I need to rehab an old knee injury that won’t keep me down so much after a 3 mile walk. This is the only body I have and I’d like to get another 50-60 years out of it so I need to take care of it now so it doesn’t start to fail me as the parts get older.
The weight loss continues to be a struggle because I haven’t been mindful of keeping a low sodium diet. BUT I did exercise 3 times this week! I just did my first Zumba session at Curves on Wednesday and it was a lot of fun and I’ll definitely go again! I also walked around Liberty Park and it was a nice warm evening and it felt good to get out and move my body.
Due to an excess of bills I had to empty my saving account. Boo. I need to get myself back on some sort of budget cuz I am drowning here. I am anxiously awaiting my tax refund from my 2009 amended taxes. Since it was an amended form it meant that it’s a paper return and 6-8 weeks for the check to arrive. I have no way to track it either to find out when they got it. Today is the beginning of week 6 and that check can’t come soon enough! I have lots of plans for it but first have to get caught up on some bills and stash some away for my first REAL vacation in two years and my last until 2013.
So if Time is the stuff life is made of I need to figure out how to make my life matter to me. What do I want to accomplish? What do I want to do? I shouldn't sit idly by and wait for life to come to me. I've had 41 years of experience to prove that life does not come to you. You have to go out and find your life and embrace it.
I thought you were cancelling your cable.
ReplyDeleteAnd yay Yay YAY for completing a 5k! I'm SO proud of you, girl!
(And we had a paper check that we tracked. You have to have the exact amount coming to you, but it's trackable. irs website?)
I 'bundled' my cable and internet with Qwest & DirecTV. It's cheaper and I still got to keep my tv viewing. I switched from Comcast to Qwest so I now only have wireless internet. To add wireless internet with Comcast was too much hassle and money. Only problem I have had is that snow on a sattelite dish kills your reception. And the bundling process was a huge pain in the... had a couple glitches along the way but now the bill is only 70/mo for cable and internet.
ReplyDeleteDo you have your before and after pictures yet? I love before and after. Obviously many do thats what all shows seem to be based around. And good job with the 5k...yes a few months behind. I am not on computer much these days
