Happy New Year 2011~!

I had 3 goals for 2010.

New Job. New House. New Man.
New Job: Not accomplished. Justification: I am in school until June this year. What is the point of getting a new job a: in this current job market, b: for only a year or less didn’t make sense to me, c: I didn’t have a lot of time to look for a job since I work two jobs and go to school full time.  The goal wasn’t accomplished but I’m ok with that because this year will be better and the purpose of going to school was to get a better job in the first place.
New House: Not accomplished. Justification: two jobs and school make it hard to look for a new place; let alone go through 8 ½ years of accumulated stuff & junk prior to the move.  I live in a dingy, smelly 900sqf basement apartment with really cheap rent. I may not even accomplish that goal this year but once school is done I’ll at least have time to start the sorting process and getting rid of crap that I seem to think I need. I might have to rename the Yard Sale as a “I had good intentions with all this craft stuff’ sale J
New Man: Not accomplished. Again, two jobs and school make relationships hard to find and they can be hard to manage if they are not already established. I don’t have LTR’s that often. I am a whole-enough person to realize I don’t need a man to make me happy but I am more content and relaxed when I am in a relationship and we can share each others ups and downs, daily life, joys and burdens. I was happier too J
Here are my goals for 2011:
  • New job
  • Participate in a 5k. (Did you notice how I didn’t say ‘run’ a 5k?!)
  • Start paying down debt and not live paycheck to paycheck. Get my savings up to 4 figures before the decimal point.
  • Weight Loss. I would like to lose 50+ pounds this year and easily have 100 to lose. However, my 40yo body doesn’t shed weight as easily as it once did. But I do see weight loss happening due to training for the 5k, limiting my salt intake and dairy intake. I have recently discovered a dairy allergy/intolerance (ugh) so far it has been easy to manage…no yogurt, milk, cheese, ice cream L or sour cream. My biggest hurdle is that my favorite go-to munchie is chips and salsa with sour cream. I can’t have either any more. I am incorporating more fruits and veggies into my diet and need to work on adding the lean meat. I also need to find an inexpensive soy milk. I like soy milk but it’s not $1.99/gallon.
  • Get my passport. Now that it is required to get into Canada (from Utah) I should probably get one. I have also been wanting to go on a cruise and you either leave from a foreign port or land in a foreign port.
Happy New Year and good luck on your own goals for this year~!
